Dec 10 Camping at HTP during this time of COVID

In an effort to help answer some of the many questions regarding camping during this time of COVID, I wanted to repost information regarding camping and COVID.

Camping in a time of COVID-19

In the Commonwealth:

Virginia entered Phase Three of the Forward Virginia reopening plan on July 1 followed by numerous updates, the most recent announced Dec. 10, 2020. In accordance with the guidelines set forth by the Virginia Department of Health (VDH), all social distancing measures continue to apply (maintaining >6’ distance from others), as well as the requirement for people over the age of 5 to wear cloth masks/face coverings in public settings. Group gatherings are limited to 10 persons and  everyone should continue to avoid mass gatherings as well as crowded places to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

At the beach:

The beaches are open for recreation however group sports (volleyball, flag football, etc.) as well as tents or large groups of umbrellas are restricted. Guidelines concerning social distancing and wearing face masks still apply at the beach and local businesses.

At the campground:

We are adhering to the guidelines as set forth by the VDH. To minimize the risk of COVID-19 transmission to you, our other guests, and our staff at Holiday Trav-L-Park, you must understand and abide by the following mandatory requirements to camp with us:

  • If you currently have a fever or symptoms of COVID-19, or have had known exposure to someone diagnosed with COVID-19, you are not permitted to enter the campground.
  • All guests must maintain >6’ apart from persons with whom they are not normally in physical contact.
  • Face masks must be worn by all persons entering into public spaces, such as in our office, campground store, Food Mart, and bathroom facilities.
  • If you must enter the office, please be aware of the number of people in the office and wait outside until someone leaves if there are more than 8 people inside.

Currently we have our front pool under the dome, heated and open.  All chairs and tables have been removed from the pool decks; we ask that guests lounge at their campsites rather than around the pool.  COVID etiquette applies at the pool so maintaining distance and masks when not swimming.

The playgrounds are open using standard COVID etiquette – keep your spacing, try to limit to one family at a time using the equipment and wash your hands before and after use.

As we cannot allow gatherings of greater than 10 persons, we do not have any scheduled events for the immediate timeframe.  We still hope to have events begin again as the spring comes around but time will tell.

Our parking lot for 150 vehicles at the NW corner of 9th and Pacific is available for your use ....but consider bringing your bikes to enjoy the bike paths in the region.

To further limit unnecessary contact and potential exposure to our employees, we ask that our guests have their reservation balances paid in full prior to arrival. Provided you have done this, attached to this e-mail you should find a vehicle parking pass that you can print for yourself and upon arrival proceed directly to your site. To check in, you can use the mobile check-in option provided in this email.

Thank you for all your efforts to keep yourself and fellow campers safe! We look forward to hosting you for your stay!!
